The journey is never ending
People don't come to therapy because something is broken. They come because something isn't working. The same argument keeps coming back. The anxiety won't let go. Or there's a nagging sense that life is happening to them instead of being lived by them.
My name is Mark Calder. I'm a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a private practice in Huntington, on Long Island. I also see clients by telehealth anywhere in New York. My work starts from one idea: the best measure of mental health is how well you can take ownership of what you think, feel and do. I call it owning your life.
How I can help
- Therapy. Individual therapy using Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, CBT and mindfulness. Together we work out which parts of you are running the show, and why.
- Relationship counseling. For couples who want to stop having the same fight and start having a better conversation.
- ADHD coaching. Practical structure, routines and follow-through for people whose brains don't work on a default schedule.
- Life coaching. For people who aren't in crisis but know they're not where they want to be.
